I recently found a bank feed that would not refresh. This surprised me, as it was one of four accounts at a one bank, with one login for one client. It involved the least active account. However, when I wrote Xero
support@Xero.com I got a reply from Xero Customer Care bankfeedhelp@xero.com. This also surprised me, as  I never expected a simple problem would need a separate help team.

I vaguely remember hearing this, but the answer surprised me:

Hi Mike

As this bank has multi-factor authentication (required to use a token or additional security) the feed must be refreshed by the user who activated the feed.

It appears the missing transactions are a result of not refreshing the bank feed often enough. We recommend you refresh the bank feed at least once every 30 days so the feed can import all the required transactions.

You will need to manually import your missing transactions to correct your account.

          Thanks

Wow! That sucks!

The important points:

            1. You  waste time refreshing, for all clients and accounts

            2. You will must wait for each account to refresh

            3. You may not do it every 30 days, mainly in tax season

            4. You cannot get all clients to do it every 30 days

            5. Google: 21,000+ links for xero refresh bank feed

            6. Xero will never be able to help you

I originally thought Xero should refresh feeds during nightly downloads. However, with multi-factor authentication, only clients (the person who set up the account) can do that  I was very fortunate, as we routinely get read-only access. This lets us set up accounts without bothering clients and get check payee information from bank websites. Therefore, we still had the complete multi-factor account information to be able to set it up account again.

After thinking about the problem, however, I decided to create a limited power of attorney. This would let client have me deal directly with banks to resolve login problems. I also realized that the 0CPAs program structure could give us all the fastest and easiest solutions to Xero bank feed refresh problems.
